By Sandra Turner

If you wish to be a professional mole trapper there are few tips you need to know. Most people have tested that the most effective way of catching the moles is by trapping. In most cases it becomes very difficult especially if you have no clue on how to set a mole trap. Get to know if their tunnels are difficult to understand so that you know your next step.

Live trapping would be a good beginning for non-experts who cannot put up with the moles. Here you put a bucket under the active tunnel waiting for one to fall inside. They are not bad creatures since they eat the harmful microorganisms found in the soil. Also they help in soil aeration. Therefore, if for some reason you do not mind them there is no need for setting a trap.

These traps have steps that guide you on how to use them depending on the manufacturer. To keep the track of them so that you do not waste your money on a trap that you do not need. One can place plywood over the hole in order tom keep their track. Spring trapping is very effective since once they push it slightly they get caught.

Step by step follow the instructions indicated and arm the tool. In case it takes days before it has been trapped remove and take it to a different tunnel. This kind of trap is activated when the mole pushes itself hard touching the spring. These traps must be set in places where moles are active. Therefore before taking any step locate the active tunnels.

You need to keep track of the movements being made by the mole. One can only do this by looking for the fresh mole hills every morning. If they are getting bigger every time this means that they are active in those areas. One can stick something into the ground to know how deep they have gone so that you get the appropriate trap.

The trap should be strategically located in that no distraction prevents the moles from being trapped. In case there is soil around it removes since it could block the passage of the mole. Check to ensure everything is well placed before waiting for the results. However do not forget to check the trap frequently to see if the mole has been caught.

Cover the hole like it was after setting them. When carrying out the process ensure you remove any spilled soil and make sure no more falls in so that the entrance is blocked. During the covering process ensure it is well sealed to avoid light from penetrating into the hole. Light scares the moles away thus they could escape before being trapped.

If you want to be a mole hunter know the basis of how they dig their tunnels how deep and long they are. It could be an exciting job if you have passion for the work. However if you are only doing it just to get them out of your compound first know the active holes. Get to know how deep they are so that you can settle for a particular trap.
