Useful Information Regarding Florida Synthetic Grass

By Paul Brooks

What fake grass is today is nothing close to what it was during its first introduction. Back then, it was something simple and full of failures and many other horrible things. Fortunately, tremendous improvements in these products have been realized through technological advancements and persistent research. So far, they have managed to go through 3 generations, with the current variety being a third generation artificial turf. This is worth knowing about Florida Synthetic Grass.

The modern product has not only undergone evolution, but now incorporates qualities that are very desirable. For instance, the products are made with a soft feeling, while being very durable. A typical installation can last for over 10 years. Given that they can last for that long even though they are exposed to inclement weather and intensive use makes them an excellent choice.

The turf is usually made of various components, which include the blades, backing, infill, and thatch. The blades are typically made of a type of plastic called polyethylene. This same kind of plastic is also found in many common products such as plastic bags and bottles. Colors tones of the final product are usually introduced into the product during the production process.

UV resistant additives are also added into the polyethylene materials during the production process. UV inhibitors are meant to allow the blades to last for a long time without losing their original color. Thus, the turf will retain its green color for over ten years regardless of how much it is used or the kind of weather it is exposed to.

A tufting machine is used to carry out the process of production. The blades are added into the backing at the time of production. The blades are then held in place using adhesives to provide further support. Adhesives used are usually designed specifically for this task. These adhesives can last for a long time and still keep their original grip.

An increasing number of companies and people are adopting synthetic turf and slowly dropping applications of natural turf. People have many varying reasons for making the switch. Some of these reasons are universal while some are specific to certain companies and homeowners. The fact that artificial grass may be installed anywhere even in places where natural growth of grass would be impossible is one of the major reasons.

For example, growing grass in seasons or countries that experience excess cold or hotness is very difficult. To add on this, natural grass is not allowed adequate recovery time in sports which make intensive use of arenas. This means that its growth is adversely affected. This is where artificial turf comes in handy since it can be used severally without the need for recovery time.

However, maintenance remains a constant in both natural and artificial turf. Both products need to be maintained even though natural grass requires more maintenance. Maintenance involves various activities, including occasional raking to remove debris from within the blades. Alternatively, one can use a leaf blower to remove debris. Places that experience heavier traffic also usually tend to have fallen blades. This can be corrected by brushing the lawn in the opposite direction of the fallen blades.
